Jazz and Musicals–what’s not to love?

Musicals are built on fantastic music, and so we are incredibly pleased that the group “Colin and Friends” has chosen Stillwater Artsapalooza as a place to serenade us with a few musical theatre tunes.  The group is comprised of Hannah Barry, Maida Cordero, Nestor Gonzalez, Jon Hawley, Sam Kunz, Lexi Lowell, Matt Skaves, Kurt Strock, Molly Webster and the uber talented Colin Graebert on piano.  Colin and Friends will be singing songs from Bill Finn’s A New Brain, Jason Robert Brown’s The Last Five Years, Tom Kitt’s Next to Normal, songs from Glee, and songs from Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story.  They are performing at the Church of Universal Fellowship from 9:00-9:40p.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2011.

Old Town High School is known New England-wide for its outstanding music program and Stillwater Community Arts could not be happier to have the Old Town High School Jazz Combo playing at Stillwater Artsapalooza!   Over the past fifteen years the Old Town High School music program has been a program of excellence. The Concert Band and Symphonic Band have consistently received superior and one ratings at music festivals held all over New England, Washington D.C. and New York City.  In 1997, the Old Town High School Marching Band was selected to march in President Clinton’s Inaugural Parade with a short appearance on CNN. The marching band has also performed parades in Woonsocket, Rhode Island and three performances in the Cherry Blossom Parade in Washington D.C. The Old Town High School Jazz Ensemble has won many awards over the past ten years. It has performed at the Monterey High School Jazz Festval in Monterey, Calfornia and has won the Berklee Jazz Festival four times in the last ten years.  Stop by The Roost from 6:00-6:40p.m. to hear this fantastic group play.
